How safe are the campuses of your local colleges or universities? The IRE and NICAR Database Library recently updated the Campus Crime database so you can find out.
On October 1st of each year, schools are required to report crime statistics for the three most recent calendar years. The data cover 2001 through 2005 and contain 8,771 records for the most recent year. On campus and off-campus crime, arrests, discipline and hate crimes are reported in separate tables that can be linked. More limited information is available for 2000.
