  "full_text": "A few of the stories on school violence at the IRE Resource Center:\n\nAfter the string of multiple school shootings in the early and mid '90s, Education Week reporter Jessica Portner examined easy access to firearms as one of the main causes in explaining why one student killed another on the steps of a Savannah, Ga., school (File 14853).\n\nJeff Meader, an Education Week journalist, reported in November 1998 that \"during the months that Americans were transfixed by the tales of students killing other students, there were nearly as many stories – if not more – of children setting fire to their schools.\" (File 14883).\n\nA 1998 story by Royal Ford, a Boston Globe staff writer, examines possible causes of the increasingly violent nature of teenage girls, as well as solutions such as neighborhood and school programs.
