About This Data

The U.S. House of Representatives publishes quarterly spending data in its Statement of Disbursements. This project takes the raw CSV files from house.gov and enriches them with legislator identifiers, so you can easily connect spending to specific members of Congress.

Enrichments Added

Bioguide ID Unique identifier for each member from the official Congressional Biographical Directory.
Member Name Standardized name from congress-legislators, matched to the raw organization field.
Party R (Republican) or D (Democrat), sourced from the member's term record for that Congress.
State & District Two-letter state code and district number for the member's seat.
Congress Number Which Congress (e.g. 118th) the quarter falls under, derived from the year.
Member Flag Boolean indicating whether spending is from a member office vs. a committee or administrative office.

Output File Types

Detail Individual transactions: vendor payments, personnel compensation, travel, etc. Includes transaction date, vendor name, amount, and all enrichment fields.
Summary Aggregated spending by office and category. Includes year-to-date and quarter-to-date totals plus enrichment fields.
